Selfie in the ancient times

My Hidden Ego Sao Paulo
I read an interesting article this morning  by Michele Smargiassi. It throw me back to my psychology researches in portraiture that I have been doing for several years and when it was not fashionable to use the term ‘psychology’ in anything.
I myself portray me in this category except for the fact that I have been doing it since I was young when I did not yet know why I did it before someone called it “selfie” and after great men in history like Artemisia Gentileschi, Gustave Coubert (see his series of “desperate portraits”), Francis Bacon, Leonardo Da Vinci, Caravaggio Andy Warhol painted or shot self-portraits, and this is only a tiny examples of those who used the “selfie” in the past.
Man always needed to have a dialogue with the image of the self as a testify to his presence on earth, well aware that the momentary moment of fixing himself on a support would have immortalized him forever, power that he did not have if not on a support he chose.
