Nuova Galleria Morone presents an unedited Tokyo through photographic and video installations by the artist Monica Silva. The space, a project room, intimate as an introspective immersion in a world of fantasy and mysticism, very controversial yet as fascinating as the world’s perception of the Japanese lifestyle.

The exhibition’s title comes from a very intimate short video played on a huge screen in which the artist, shot in an empty room, bare soul, in a self therapy process, states her painful childhood made of raping and violence. The video is an emotional sentence,  a strong  message but yet poetic and delicate. Remarkable words in kanji appears on the artist’s nude body as a statement, while her voice reads her feelings of ghosts from the past always present to remind her from where she comes. In the last two years, the artist has been running several photographic experiments shooting photography and video to narrate life experiences printed on her skin in a metaphorical vision using different artistic means. This time, she not only focuses on a introspective inner self but she goes further in a sort of pilgrimage in her trip to Japan, capturing an unexpected view of Tokyo. The photographic installations are ethereal, happy, a poetic view of the capital of Japan, a kaleidoscope of simple slices of daily life of Japanese women of all ages, forgetting for a moment, the chaos, the psychedelic lights of a city that never sleeps.
Monica Silva, Brazilian born and Italian “adopted”, is a photographer specialized in conceptual portraiture. Her works are published on RCS Mediagroup for Corriere della Sera – La LetturaIo DonnaStyleSetteMax, and Dove Viaggi. Recently she has also been engaged by Mondadori Portfolio Agency for the group’s main titles, including FlairChiPanorama TravelDonna Moderna, and Grazia. These collaborations lead to interesting encounters in both cultural and show business with well-known names such as Paolo Sorrentino, Toni Servillo, Gad Lerner, Samuele Bersani, Nicoletta Mantovani, Fiona May and many others. Keen on photographic experimentation, in the last two years she has also shot architectural interior design. A Nikon Pro Photographer and ambassador for Hasselblad and Manfrotto, these global companies often engage her to take part in conferences and psychology therapy portraiture clinics in Europe and overseas.
In parallel to commercial work she started pursuing artistic photography in 2008 with the project “Life Above All”, inspired by the Anthology of Spoon River by Edgar Lee Masters at Mazzoleni Art Gallery in Milan and  Stefano Forni Art Gallery in Bologna followed by On My Skin, artistic nudes for Bologna ArteFiera in 2010 and My Hidden Ego, presented in 2011 at Palazzo Pichi Sforza in Sansepolcro.
In 2011, as special reporter for Corriere della Sera doing coverage of La Biennale Internazionale D’arte, Monica received a prize from Paolo Baratta, president of La Biennale, Curiger, curator of the 54th international art  exhibition “Illuminations” and by the artist Shirana Shibazi for a portrait of Gillo Dorfles “Dorfles infinito e lo sguardo a Ghirri” as the 54th International Art Exhibition’s best picture ex aequo.
